Geoffrey Wilkins

Hello, I’m Geoffrey Wilkins, and I specialize in integrating circular economy principles into the machine tool industry. With over eight years of experience in mechanical engineering and sustainable manufacturing, I have focused my career on transforming traditional production models into resource-efficient, closed-loop systems.
My journey began as a design engineer at a leading machine tool manufacturer, where I witnessed first-hand how linear “take-make-dispose” workflows generate excessive scrap, energy waste, and end-of-life challenges. Motivated to drive change, I pursued a master’s in Sustainable Manufacturing, during which I developed a modular remanufacturing framework for CNC machine components, extending their useful life by up to 40% and reducing raw-material consumption.
In my current role as Senior Sustainability Engineer at EcoMach Solutions, I lead cross-functional teams to:
Design for Disassembly: We’ve re‐engineered spindle assemblies and coolant systems to enable rapid component exchange and material recovery.
Closed-Loop Supply Chains: By partnering with recycling and refurbishment centers, we divert 95% of metal chips and scrap back into the production loop.
Digital Twin & Predictive Maintenance: Leveraging IoT sensors and digital twins, we predict component wear, schedule remanufacturing, and minimize unplanned downtime—cutting energy use by 20% and extending machine life cycles.
Additive Hybrid Manufacturing: We integrate metal-additive repairs for high-value spindles, reducing scrap by 30% compared to traditional machining.
Looking ahead, I’m passionate about scaling these solutions across global machine tool networks: fostering industry-wide standards for material passports, embedding AI-driven lifecycle analytics, and co-creating circular business models that reward product-as-a-service offerings.
I believe that by rethinking product design, resource flows, and service strategies, we can lead the machine tool industry into a truly regenerative era—one that delivers economic value, environmental stewardship, and long-term resilience. I look forward to collaborating with fellow innovators to make this vision a reality.
